SteamLights 2026 returns to the Bluebell Railway, departing from Sheffield Park Station on selected evenings from 21 November. This year’s illuminated steam-train experience follows a Somewhere over the Rainbow theme, combining colourful lineside light displays, narration and music during a journey through the Sussex countryside.
The SteamLights journey
At Sheffield Park, visitors meet the Good Witch before a ceremonial switch-on of the illuminated train. The journey features displays inspired by the four seasons and pauses at Horsted Keynes, where passengers can stay aboard or visit the platform. Sheffield Park offers a café and shop; snacks and hot drinks are also available at Horsted Keynes. Santa does not appear at SteamLights 2026, which is a separate experience from the railway’s Santa Specials.
November dates, tickets and departure times
Services are scheduled for 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 November 2026, with more dates in December. Tickets start at £35. Trains operate on booked evening departures; individual departure times must be selected when booking. The event calendar is marked with dates only, not an all-day train service. Book through the official SteamLights page.
