Join storyteller Philip Kay-Bujak at The Bookshop in East Grinstead on Wednesday 4 November 2026 for Erich Hoepner: Hitler’s Reluctant Traitor, an evening examining the complicated life of a German army commander who later became associated with resistance to Hitler.
Erich Hoepner’s story
Hoepner served as an officer during the First World War and rose to senior command during the Second World War, including the campaigns in Poland and France. The talk explores his military career, disagreements with the Nazi leadership and involvement in the resistance movement that culminated in the failed attempt to assassinate Hitler in July 1944. Philip Kay-Bujak brings this historical account to an intimate bookshop setting.
