The Cat Inn is a lovely 16th century free house situated in the charming village of West Hoathly.
With four cosy bedrooms available, it’s the perfect place to stay and explore the beautiful Sussex countryside. The village itself is perched on a hilltop and is a great starting point for walkers keen to explore the Western edge of the Ashdown Forest.
There are plenty of local attractions to visit, including Wakehurst Place, Borde Hill Gardens, and the Bluebell Railway. The Cat Inn is also only a short distance from East Grinstead and just 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.
Inside the pub, you’ll find oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces, which create a warm and inviting atmosphere in the colder months. During the summer, the terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a drink and some food. As a free house, the Cat Inn is proud to offer a wide selection of local brews, including those from Harvey’s of Lewes and other microbreweries. There’s also an extensive wine list, with a variety of sparkling and table wines available.
If you’re feeling hungry, you’re in for a treat. All of the dishes are cooked to order using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local suppliers wherever possible. The menu changes regularly, and there are always some tasty seasonal specials available.
While the Cat Inn is welcoming to children over the age of 7, dogs are only allowed in the pub area and not in the dining room
