Britain’s leading outdoor touring company, Opera Brava, present The Barber of Seville by Rossini, performed with a chamber ensemble against the magical backdrop of the Elizabethan Mansion House.
Written in three weeks, Rossini’s masterpiece is one of the wittiest and most immediately appealing comic operas in the repertoire today and as fresh to the ear now as when it first burst upon its Italian audiences in 1816. On first hearing, the utter joy of one melodic masterpiece flowing into the next is thrilling to any audience. As the plot unfolds and is dramatically told through Rossini’s brilliant musical structure, it helps us to understand Barber’s special place in the history of opera.
Opera Brava’s new production brings together both national and international artists in an exciting and innovative period production, which will keep you enthralled and amused throughout the evening. World-class singing and tunes that you will go away humming.
The performance will be sung in English.
